​Exceptional Small 19th C. Nantucket Basket

This exceptional little Nantucket Basket is adorned in an early, if not original, brown painted surface.  The swing handle is hand sculpted  giving it a more refined and delicate appearance.

It has a double-wrapped rim and nicely carved wooden base.  It is in exceptional condition with no breaks of any kind.  Some surface wear to the paint that is consistent with age and use.

Measuring just 4 1/4" tall to the rim (7 1/2" t to top of handle) with a diameter (at the rim) of 5 3/4".  Unsigned.
