​Large Early Oval Tub 

This large bentwood oval tub has two hand-carved applied handles that are attached with early rose-head nails.  The lapped bentwood is secured with forged and rose head nails as well.  This tub was most likely used for washing.  There is a notched area on the inside of each handle that probably held a wooden cross bar for washing.  Late 18th c.  Wonderful patina.

Measuring   21 1/2" wide by  19 1/4" deep by  7 1/2" tall (not counting the handles).
